MEET STEPHEN R. O’FLYNN O’BRIEN, P.E.

Stephen R. O’Flynn O’Brien, the driving force behind Forensic Engineer Solutions PLLS, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the field of forensic engineering. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013, Stephen has since carved a distinguished career path marked by technical prowess and unwavering dedication.

Stephen’s expertise spans a wide spectrum of disciplines within mechanical engineering, including fire protection and safety systems, fire investigation, HVAC systems, machine design, and oil & gas equipment. His professional journey commenced in the nuclear power and oil & gas industries, where he honed his skills in design engineering, project management, and onsite construction support.

Notably, Stephen played a pivotal role in the design and implementation of fire protection systems for nuclear facilities, contributing to critical safety initiatives such as the Fukashima FLEX programs. His tenure in the oil & gas sector saw him spearheading multimillion-dollar projects, where he meticulously specified technical requirements for crude transfer pumps.

As a licensed Professional Engineer in eight states across the Southeastern U.S., Stephen’s commitment to excellence is unwavering. For the past four years, he has immersed himself in the captivating realm of forensic engineering, relishing the challenges it presents. His extensive portfolio encompasses a myriad of forensic investigations, ranging from fire protection component failures to residential and commercial HVAC system malfunctions.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Stephen is a hands-on enthusiast with a penchant for craftsmanship. Whether it’s rebuilding classic ATVs, motorcycles, or restoring heavy machinery, his dedication to precision and quality shines through. Together with his wife, Stephen tends to a “Hobby Farm” and keeps bees—a testament to his multifaceted interests and deep-rooted connection to the natural world.

Stephen’s professional journey reflects his unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. Prior to establishing Forensic Engineer Solutions PLLS, he served as a Mechanical Professional Engineer at US Forensic LLC, where he provided invaluable consulting services and conducted root cause analyses for a diverse range of clients, including insurance adjusters and attorneys.

His tenure at Circor Pumps North America and AREVA/Framatome further enriched his expertise, equipping him with a comprehensive understanding of technical solutions and project management intricacies. Stephen’s ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver tangible results has been consistently recognized throughout his career.
